The Foundation

Portrait representing the foundation of Lattice Pensar

Lattice Pensar is founded by Shubham Agarwal, a former Computer Science graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and an ex-Software Engineer at Microsoft.

His interest in capital markets began early, through following his father’s portfolio and the markets on CNBC. That early exposure helped build an understanding of how businesses, industries, and capital markets interact. Later, his experience working in the cloud division of Microsoft at the company’s U.S. headquarters right out of college gave him first-hand exposure to how technological shifts can create significant long-term economic value.

Shubham now has more than a decade's experience investing in the capital markets of India and US. Operating today with a focused, long term time horizon, the firm and Shubham's mandate is to identify and invest in the world's best compounding businesses early on and at reasonable valuations.

The Etymology

Structural lattice image representing the etymology of Lattice Pensar

The name Lattice Pensar is the linguistic embodiment of our investment mandate. It represents the intersection of structured, multi-disciplinary frameworks and the active, rigorous discipline of deep thought.

The Lattice. It is an interconnected structure. Inspired by the concept of a "Latticework of Mental Models," the word Lattice represents the structural foundation of our research.

The Pensar. It is a Spanish verb meaning "to think." For us, it represents something much more active: the deliberate, unhurried, and independent process of rational deduction.

Pensar is our commitment to the quiet, intensive Scuttlebutt research and independent conviction that must precede any deployment of capital.

Together, Lattice Pensar is the architecture of thought. It is the belief that superior, enduring returns are generated only when a rigid analytical framework is powered by continuous, independent thinking.
