The Foundation
Lattice Pensar is founded by Shubham Agarwal, a former Computer Science graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign and an ex-Software Engineer at Microsoft.
His interest in capital markets began early at the age of 16, through closely following businesses and investments alongside his father. So, the enthusiasm for the capital markets was always high as he built his career in Computer Science at UIUC.
Shubham then joined Microsoft as a Software Engineer right after graduating. His first involvement was in Microsoft Azure during the early years of large-scale cloud computing. This tenure provided hands-on, foundational exposure to the advent of cloud computing and the mechanics of scalable technology ecosystems. During this period, early proprietary investments in transformational technology companies of the US yielded significant multi-bagger returns, cementing his belief in a high-conviction, long-term approach to the markets.
Formative Years
Beyond theoretical analysis, Lattice Pensar brings direct, operator-level experience to equity evaluation. In 2018, our founder came back to India and co-founded a consumer retail e-commerce startup in India funcorp.in, gaining direct operating experience in scaling a business through a dynamic market environment.
The experience of building and operating a company through growth and disruption added a practical understanding of execution, capital allocation, financial statements, balance sheets, and the realities of business building beyond theory.
The Creation of Lattice Pensar
In 2024, Shubham chose to transition into investing full time and founded Lattice Pensar to institutionalize a proprietary approach to managing capital in the Indian and US equity markets.
To augment a deep technological edge, our founder has integrated practitioner-level disciplines in advanced financial statement analysis and corporate governance structures. Operating today with a focused, long term time horizon, the firm's mandate is to identify and invest in the world's best compounding stories at reasonable valuations.
The Etymology
The name Lattice Pensar is the linguistic embodiment of our investment mandate. It represents the intersection of structured, multi-disciplinary frameworks and the active, rigorous discipline of deep thought.
The Lattice. It is an interconnected structure. Inspired by the concept of a "Latticework of Mental Models," the word Lattice represents the structural foundation of our research.
To truly understand the trajectory of a semiconductor cycle or the scalability of physical AI, one cannot rely on finance alone. It requires building a lattice of interconnected models from physics, psychology, biology, and history.
The Pensar. It is a Spanish verb meaning "to think." For us, it represents something much more active: the deliberate, unhurried, and independent process of rational deduction.
